British Racing Green
The Slender leather grips are part of our British Racing Green capsule collection, created to celebrate the daring and the debonair. No other shade can hold a candle to ‘BRG’ when it comes to associations with rakish charm and the performance mindset (although this latter must never be prioritised to the detriment of cutting a dash). No specific tone has ever been defined for British Racing Green: you will find it on no Pantone chart and there is disagreement about which hex-code best approximates it. What is agreed upon is that it is a lustrous, dark green shade – probably first used as a nod to the verdant tones of the island of Ireland. When dyed onto high-grade vegetable-tanned leather, the impact is immediate and obvious: timeless appeal, steeped in British heritage.

Natural materials develop over time for a unique and personal look. The vegetable-tanned leather we use in our handlebar grips is much like the material used for our saddles, although thinner and more pliable. It is beautiful to look at, maturing over time and developing a patina; the physical story of your product’s prior existence. Leather like this is also strong, a vital consideration when making objects to be used by cyclists. It will withstand many miles, many trips to work, many off-the-path diversions The natural breathability of leather provides comfort on every ride, from demanding trips to shorter adventures, ensuring your palms stay fresh.

What cyclist, indeed what human being, does not wish to feel that they are in control, that they have a solid grasp of the situation? It is a natural impulse to strive for mastery of one’s affairs, and to wish to exert a modicum of influence over one’s own path. In life, as with bicycling, control can be hard to come by.
