Designed to accompany your favourite folding-style bike, the C17 Porter has a hidden handle beneath the nose that makes it simpler to grip, lift, and move your bike when folded, whether that’s hopping on a train, placing it in a boot, or carrying it up to your flat. Think of it as your practical, maybe sometimes emotional-support, saddle.
And sure, while our latest creation may be a bit on the nose, this subtle touch can make a big difference throughout your day. Like all the saddles in our Cambium lineup, the C17 Porter features the all-road, all-weather comfort of a vulcanised rubber top, anodised aluminium rivets, durable rails, and classic Brooks handmade craftsmanship. Cambium saddles provide natural absorption of the bumps and shocks riders may experience from riding on roads in poor condition, or exploring off-road terrain. Smoothing out the ride while remaining continuously comfortable is the key. The effect is achieved by combining the flexible vulcanised rubber top with a supporting structure that permits a small amount of flex. In concert, these two parts form a resilient and sturdy platform that delivers comfort in spite of disagreeable surfaces. Cyclists choose Cambium for every kind of riding. Racers will fit a lightweight model to their competition bike. Commuters depend on its facility to quieten the noise of an unkempt city street. Its all-road functionality inspires many off-the-grid explorers to choose a one for their expedition bikes.
Continuously comfortable
A Cambium saddle provides natural comfort for the duration of the ride and on all terrain. Furthermore, they perform consistently over time, and stand up resolutely to constant use. The Cambium is one of the only bicycle seats with a genuinely suspended top over a metal framework – very similar to the way in which our leather saddles are constructed. To achieve this ‘suspension’, vulcanised rubber – chosen due to its flexibility and durability – is moulded into the saddle shape of choice. Harvested from trees then vulcanised, the rubber is hardwearing and instantly comfortable – avoiding any time needed to ‘break in’ the saddle for the rider. When used like this, the rubber has high-elasticity, strength and an ability to return to its original shape. It reacts to and follows the rider's movements, creating an almost symbiotic sensation as your ride with it.
Versatile, high-performing and weatherproof
Cambium saddles are well-suited for a wide range of activities on the bike. From touring to road racing, and gravel riding and beyond. It’s the Cambium’s ethos that no adventure should be left un-ridden and no terrain left un-explored for the want of a suitable seat. These are also our most performance-oriented saddles, with low overall weight and advanced materials used in their construction. Another wonderful thing about the Cambium range is its rugged resistance against foul weather. The vulcanised rubber top is completely waterproof, without need of treatment or tincture. From the first drops that fall to the end of a two-hour deluge, you will find its performance is unchanged. While we’d never advise you to leave a bicycle outside for long periods of time, you can at least rest assured that it will do the Cambium no harm if it spends the occasional night exposed to the elements.
No maintenance, no breaking-in
Products from the Cambium range of saddles are immediately comfortable as soon as you fit them to your bike. Unlike leather, they do not require a breaking in period and will provide you with the same experience on the first ride as they will on their 101st. Their consistent performance and resilient construction mean there is absolutely no maintenance required to keep Cambiums running smoothly. Cambium saddles are guaranteed against defects in materials or workmanship for a period of two years.
