Isle of
Wight
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Essential for easy wheeling.
Your close companion on commutes and single-day road and gravel rides.
The Isle of Wight is an elegant, simple saddle bag. Far from revolutionary, it follows a well-worn path – providing just the right amount of storage behind and below the rider’s seat for tools to make emergency roadside repairs, and perhaps a sandwich or some wearable protection from the rain. Exactly as you would expect from a saddle bag.
Once fixed to the bike, the contents can be easily accessed by way of a double-zip enclosure. This allows the rider to reach their essential items without removing the entire bag and having to re-attach it – never an appealing prospect when one’s fingers are numbed from a painstaking change of inner tube on a chilly day.
The initial attachment is simple, too. The strap is made from hardwearing hypalon, and fastens beneath the saddle. When properly fixed, it will stay securely in place for many hundreds of miles.

Safe, sound and easily-accessed
This adventurous item from our Travelling Bags range has the benefit of keeping the most essential items in your luggage close at-hand and easy-to-access. Who among us has not had that sinking feeling while on a ride? The realisation that the thing you need is buried somewhere at the bottom of one of your bulkier bags. Be it a hand pump, a power pack or the OS Map for Pontefract. Do you stop and pour out the contents at the roadside, or muddle on with a tyre that is slightly deflated and only the vaguest sense of where you’re supposed to be going? Having those vital moment-to-moment items within easy reach will keep you wheeling calm and confident.

Hallmarked by experience
Patina is a concept inextricably linked with Brooks England. Our leather saddles engender admiration, precisely because of the way they change over time. They grow more comfortable the more you ride them, and the leather gathers signs of this usage – maturing into an object yet more beautiful than when it left the factory. In much the same way, our Travelling Bags become the pages on which the stories of your adventures are written. Against their rugged exterior, memories are made manifest: the nick from an errant strand of barbed wire; a stain the provenance of which you do not know, only that it occurred somewhere in France; the pervasive smell of firelighters that will forever imbue that one internal compartment. These are just some of tales your bags might tell.

Wax works
Waxed cotton can endure a good deal. It is a material prized for its hardiness, its resilience and its steadfast defiance of foul weather. It has proven perennially popular with those companies making clothing for farmers, foresters and gamekeepers. It is well-suited to such jobs that require their proponents to be eternally outdoors, regardless of the season and the daily forecast. Because of this dogged indomitability, waxed cotton typically hangs around long enough to acquire some souvenirs. This is true of our Travelling Bags which are wrought from waxed cotton and will gather a tactile, visible legacy of marks, scars and mementos. The narrative history of your adventures, woven into your own personal tapestry.

A more civilised way to disappear
How old is the touring cyclist’s dilemma? What to pack and what to leave behind; which items are truly essential and which are merely nice to have? Made to meander, to gather as you go, Brooks England’s line of Travelling Bags comprises everything you need to pack up for adventure. And enough room left over to collect some souvenirs along the way. With all this space to include the niceties of life on the move, as well as the absolute requirements, you can disappear for a few days (or weeks) without leaving your creature comforts behind.
