The B17 has been in our range for over 100 years. Its timeless, beautifully simple design has made it an enduring favourite.
The B17 saddle, intended for the touring and trekking cyclist, has been our best selling model for over a century. First introduced in the 1890s, the B17 has survived virtually unchanged, and has firmly established itself as the saddle of choice for long distance cyclists.
INTRODUCING THE B17 AND ITS LEGACY
The influence of the B17 is seen across much of the Brooks range. The Flyer is derived from the same top as the B17, however it is complimented with a sprung frame to absorb the bumps along the road.
Our Team Pro also emerged from the B17 family, it originated from the B17 Competition. The Flyer is the choice of leading cycle traveller Frank Van Rijn.

“ The Champion shape has been found to assist energetic long-distance riding by offering the minimum resistance to pedaling effort and by giving just that degree of support which is appreciated by the rider who has learned the secret of balance a wheel ”
DESIGN & CRAFTMANSHIP
Banish discomfort and numbness atop the perennial and iconic B17, a slightly wider saddle than those in our sporting range, available today in an broad array of variations ranging from pre-aged leather to fashionably bright colours.
Alternatively, we offer the sister model, the Flyer, a timeless design derived in turn from the discontinued B66 Champion, which we initially offered back in 1927.
The contemporary Flyer is distinguished by its additional rear coil springs, which further absorb the vibrations of the road. Providing exemplary comfort combined with a classic aesthetic, the Flyer too is available in a range of variations for ladies and gentlemen.

“ This model is undoubtedly the most popular speedman’s saddle that has ever been made. ”
"I bought B17 standard recently. I have been cycling for last 2 years. Every time I go over 50Kms my butt was sore and it took few days to recover. I wasn't sure about B17 because it looked hard compare to my Cannondale soft saddle. Finally I decided to try it... and the experience was unbelievable. Even after 70-80kms ride I felt nothing on my butt. It is extremely comfortable worth every penny of it. Go for it and your butt will thank you."

"I can't praise Brooks enough. Some people talk about the break in periodo, some talk about the saddle making them want to ride more. I'm both of those people. The first time I used my B17, I was amazed and wanting to break it in more gets me to ride more. I love this saddle. Thank you Brooks."
