Part of an old Brooks Tradition

Red Swallow Limited Edition
I had been doing some research for a while on the Swift and Swallow saddles. I was quite torn between which of the two I wanted to spend my hard earned money on. I had seen the Red Limited Edition was sold out here on the Brooks website, so I didn't think twice. I knew the red would look fantastic on my mid 70's Motobecane Grand Record, but had decided that antique brown or Black would look good, but was still torn between whether the swift or the swallow would be more comfortable on my behind. I just happened to go into my LBS, to take a closer look at the two saddles, and wasn't actually planning on purchasing a saddle from them that day, but wanted to have a closer look at the two saddles in person. While looking through the boxes of saddles, I happened to see tghe box for a Green, a Blue, and a White Swallow limited edition laying about the shop. After looking even more closely, I happened across two of the Red Swallow Limited Editions. I decided that I must have one of them for my bike, and went ahead and made the purchase. I only got 18 miles on the saddle so far, and starting out, I wasn't certain how well I liked the feel. I knew that I had to give it some time for my rear to break the saddle in. In that 18 miles, I already noticed a different type of comfort that I haven't yet felt before on any other saddle. The surface was slippery, but I was not sore for the first time after riding regular khaki shorts. (I was also expecting the shorts to become stained red, but this also did not occur) So far so good, heres to many more comfortable miles on this beautiful saddle.

A beautiful saddle. Having put thousands of miles on B15's (and Raleigh's) while an undergraduate in the 60's, I have always had a fondness for this fine and comfortable saddle.

Beautiful as it is, I won't be buying a B15 Red Swallow because my wife looks at my current saddle and asks, "What's wrong with the one you already have?"

I am sure you understand why I can't find anything wrong to tell her about with my B17 Narrow Imperial. In 66 years of cycling I have tried a lot of saddles. The reason I end up on my B17 is that Brooks is the only saddle for which I can't answer my wife's question.

I am happy to see Brooks continue to build beautiful saddles that will be largely unnoticed, rather than becoming the 'center' of attention on a long ride and I am sure some young riders will learn what cycling comfort is on he B15 Swallows.

Red Swallow Limited Edition
The most comfortable saddle I've ever owned. Just scored the entire Union Jack collection. I will be rotating all four of them amongst my various and sundry bicycles.

After looking at the cheap copy (rip offs!) of Brooks- I decided to take the correct route and buy a "proper" Brooks. Very pleased after only a short "break in" period and pleased to be part of that heritage as well as enjoying the ride.
