My last comment was centered around an issue that was swiftly dealt with by the Customer Service Department. I can only expand my comments to say that the only thing that might challenge my love of my Eton Satchel is the quick and personal manner in which the problem with my old satchel were handled.
Hi there, I am really interested to know more about this product before purchasing it, unfortunately no more picture are put on your web to be able to know what kind of leather is ? how do the bag look inside etc...
Is there any way to get more pictures about this satchel...
After all, thank's for ur high quality product, beside of 2 saddles, I use daily my barbican and Islington , both are really great.
A> Thank you for writing. We will try and get some more pictures up soon, but in the meantime we can say that the interior of the bag is unfinished leather but has a detachable purse for small items. Best Regards, The Brooks Team
I had been looking for a laptop backpack for some time and I always ended up to Eton Satchel page. I needed something classy and ergonomic and it seemed to fit both my criteria. Now I have owned it a couple of weeks and here are my few comments.
It is classy and ergonomic. Looks just like the pictures, it was just bigger than I expected. I'm small and I have to carry at least one and sometimes two laptops. I used to have a handheld bag, moving to backpack has made the difference for my shoulders and neck. Especially the strap in the front is good for not straining the neck. The removable pouch inside is also super handy.
I do love it, but already in this short time I have had two disappointments. As someone else also mentioned, with just little spring rain the whole bag looked like it had the pox, there was swelling on the leather looking like bites. Mostly they went down when it dried, but the leather is not as smooth as it was before. I did apply leather protection spray after this, but I had assumed this would have been an essential part of finishing the satchel as Brooks is a brand for cycling and that normally happens outdoors. The other thing are the canvas straps. Also their finishing leaves room for improvement. In just two days I have bits and pieces of string coming out of them, like they were not properly finished. I pulled on one of the strings and it just kept coming out. I think I have to grab the needle myself to see they don't come off too much.
I just bought this bag for travelling & got lots of compliments, in fact a few asked what it was & where to get it. Functionally this bag can fit many things & carry heavy load.
My 2 complaints are:
1. Finishing quality, the seams on the bottom part are stitched & glued on the edge. On mine the glue part was not finished nicely so the glued was all over (unsightly) & on some area the glue has come undone.
2. Rain, my bag got drizzled and it developed swollen marks (looks like mosquito/insect bites). Lucklily almost all of them disappear after a few hours though some marks are still visible under certain lightings.
All in all I'm very happy with this bag my wish is the straps are removable.
