The Brooks Cambium Strikes Gold At Eurobike.
Since the launch of our new Cambium saddle we've been keen to learn how it stands up on (or off-) road. To this end, in May we sent over 100 free Cambium saddles worldwide to a diverse pool of cyclists, whose testimonials can be found in the shop comments section of the Brooks online shop. We are happy to report that, perhaps unsurprisingly, most of the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Now, the latest seal of approval comes from the 2013 Eurobike Award jury, who out of 496 products from 30 different countries bestowed upon the Cambium their coveted GOLD Award, given only to 10 products this year. Eurobike will be known to many as the world's largest bicycle industry trade fair; it takes place each year at Friedrichshafen in Germany. Here thousands of exhibitors compete for the attention of industry buyers and display the newest and most innovative products of the season. Prior to this massive event which draws visitors from around the globe, a team of experts gather each August behind closed doors to pass judgement on developments in the world of Cycling, evaluating hundreds of new products and issuing nominations to the most innovative and interesting pieces of equipment in 10 different product categories. Entries are evaluated on the basis of the following criteria: Aerodynamics, Efficiency, Ergonomics, Functionality, Utility, Design Quality, Weight, Degree of Innovation, Comfort, Sturdiness, Brand Value/Branding, Choice of Material, Service, Safety, Stability, Environmental Friendliness and Workmanship. As in other years, Brooks had been nominated. But this time the jury found themselves in the unusual position of presenting the top prize in the "Parts/Components" category to a saddle, something which has never happened before! Our congratulations are therefore extended to everyone involved with the Cambium project but not least to Thomas Overthun, John Smith, Barbara Bigolin, Mario Boifava, Vincent Bourgeois, Jhojan Pardo, Claudio Checchin, Andrea Meneghelli and Cristina Wuerdig. Of course, self praise being no praise, we advise those curious to learn what all the fuss is about to visit the comments section for the Cambium Limited Edition at the Brooks online shop.
