SENIOR PRODUCT DEVELOPER / EXPERT IN BAGS
Brooks England, part of the Selle Royal Group, is looking for a product developer for the range of cycle bags. The British company has its sales & marketing and product development office in Italy at the headquarters of the parent company, Selle Royal, in Pozzoleone, near Vicenza.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The candidate will be in charge of developing all cycle bags in close cooperation with the product manager, the designer, a junior developer, the operations manager and our partner factories.
Responsibilities and tasks assigned to the candidate include:
- research, suggest and source innovative and traditional materials
- source or develop components and accessories for the bags
- suggest and implement best practices in the design and production of the bags
- develop technical drawings and patterns for the bags
- make prototypes and follow their testing
- implement improvements to prototypes and products
- work with factories for the first production lots
The product developer is the key person for the development of our product range as he is the expert of the product category.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
The ideal candidate has a significant experience and great competence in developing and manufacturing bags. The position is open to candidates of any age from different educational backgrounds, but the ideal person has several years of experience in the development of bags for leading companies of the outdoor, luggage, fashion, bicycle or motorcycle industries.
Candidates who have spent time learning English in the UK or in other English-speaking countries will be preferred.
The person we are looking for is eager to learn new things, to share and teach what he knows, he can take initiative and make decisions. The ideal candidate has excellent organizational skills and is able to meet deadlines.
The candidate should possess command of the following:
- Microsoft Office or Apple iWork (Power Point or Keynote, Excel or Numbers)
- the English language, both written and spoken
- AutoCAD and/or other design software
The ideal candidate is highly motivated to work in a team for a high-end brand. The person understands and loves products with great design and a reputation for excellent quality.

Our company dates back to the roots of cycling. Founded in 1866, Brooks England manufactures and sells bicycle saddles, bags and other components and accessories. In 2002, the company became part of the Selle Royal Group, one of the most successful companies of the cycling industry. Since the acquisition, Brooks England kept the factory in Birmingham, but relocated marketing and sales in Italy at the headquarters of the group.
In the last few years we have re-launched the brand and expanded the product range to appeal to a new breed of more fashion-conscious cyclist. Recently we developed a multichannel distribution strategy to market our products not only to the top bicycle dealers, but also to outdoor retail specialists and fashion shops.
Brooks England keeps growing every year and we have ambitious growth goals for the next 5 years. Cycling is becoming more and more a lifestyle in Europe, North America and in parts of the Far East. This opens new opportunities to cycling brands and to Brooks in particular.
CONTRACT & SALARY
The job is full time and permanent. The gross salary is based on the candidate’s experience and talent. The main work location is near Vicenza in Italy, but frequent travelling is required.
