I bought this vintage BSA, from 1938, not only because of it's fantastic style but very much because of it's very used brooks saddle, which adds a fantastic touch to the bikes appeal. I believe the bike had been standing outside under the rain for about 50 years before coming to my home - the tyres were completely crystallised and felt like made of hard plastic, kind of melted to the rims, but the metal used for the frame is so hard only minor surface rust had managed to attack it. The chrome unfortunately not so good, but still better than on a chinese bike left outside for a few months ;) I did repaint the frame and sorted the mechanics and have been riding it daily to and from work since then. Unfortunately the old leather in the saddle just gave up last week, and it's now by Brooks to be redressed in fresh clothing.
